 Wonky Week Ahead….

Neptune Retrograde June 16th, 2017

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It’s getting hard to be someone
But it all works out
It doesn’t matter much to me

Let me take you down
‘Cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you know you can’t tune it
But it’s all right
That is I think it’s not too bad…

— John Lennon & Paul McCartney,

Last week’s Strawberry Moon in Sagittarius may have had to improvise, throwing up make-shift walls, shedding light on defensive mechanisms that we didn’t know existed, nor quite convinced we could maintain, never-mind comfortably stand behind if it comes right down to it. This week, (as we get right down to it) a mesmerizing Neptunian fog rolls in testing the mettle of our minds.

Neptune slows on the 16th, hovering over 14 degrees Pisces where it will remain until mid July. If you personally have any planets near on that degree in Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces you might find the next month more exhausting than most. If not, Neptune will still have an influence on you one way or another for the next few weeks. Why is that important? For one, Neptune, as dreamy as it can be, tends to skew perceptions. It’s great if you are an artist and/or are in an established trusting relationship, in the short term. Sensitivities are heightened as personal boundaries dissolve, the enchanting sights and sounds of romance floats on every breeze. Yet, the blissful oohs and aahs are likely based on a fleeting imagination – images of the ideal that can take over regular mental functioning.

At the beginning of this week, on the 13th, Neptune vies with Mercury – the planet attributed to mental functioning. So how do we get around that? How do we clear the fog, since so many of us need our minds to be sharp while dealing with the daily grind, or truly want to be clear-headed as we struggle to decide whether to risk exposing our vulnerable side?- especially if we aren’t convinced they are the one.  Well, you can’t really get around it – unless, writing poetry, love letters, or trying your hand at calligraphy is on your list of things to do 😉 and remains (at least temporarily) a private affair.  Other options for navigating this cosmic weather? It’s a perfect time contemplate your dream job contract instead of signing one. A good time to profess your undying love too, but better to  delay the trip to the Elvis Chapel, curbing the urge to make it official.  In other words, indulging in dreamscapes won’t hurt as long as you keep one foot on the ground. Otherwise, you’ll float up and up like a balloon only to have it burst far too far from the ground – realizing you can’t hover above earthbound realities forever. Which brings me to the next Neptune tell.

That lost in bliss feeling might not arrive at all. It’s possible that a veil of hopelessness weighs on your shoulders from the get-go, feeling lost (sans the blissful part) with no idea where the damn path went that was under your feet a minute ago. Whether that is the case, or you’re flitting around in euphoric wonder my suggestion is the same – keep it simple.   Go slow until the fog passes. When it comes to relationships in particular, remove the pedestal – no one is perfect. N-O- B-O-D-Y. Applying that notion in earnest, allows for greater love and compassion to flow naturally, unhindered, and that can, arguably, lead you to the real thing here on earth.

As a final note, reality-bitten Saturn in Sagittarius can come in handy around the 15th carrying us through to the end of the week. Stark reminders that reality really does bite (sometimes) might be exactly what is needed to neutralize the dangers of wishful thinking. Conversely, if you’re feeling wish-less from wonky Neptunian vibes, Saturn can also help direct your focus.  There is a true to life version of something or someone worth working towards, a ‘real-ideal’, so to speak. The smoke and mirrors version, brought to you courtesy of Neptune, may seem more vibrant, yet, it isn’t likely to bring satisfaction for the long term.

...Always know sometimes it’s me
But you know I know when it’s a dream
I think I know I mean a “Yes”
But it’s all wrong
That is I think I disagree

Mercury & Venus Out of the Shadows

Mercury & Venus Out of the ShadowsMerc & Venus out of Shadow

May 19th & 20th, 2017

Vampires get the joy of flying around and living forever, werewolves get the joy of animal spirits. But zombies, they’re not rich, or aristocratic, they shuffle around. They’re a group phenomenon, they’re not very fast, they’re quite sickly. So what’s the pleasure of being one? –Margaret Atwood

The New Arrangement

Maybe not all of us are feeling as eager to grab the bull by the horns or as hopeful that we are heading in the right direction at the beginning of the week. However, Mercury’s re-entry into Taurus, where it will remain until June 6th can help keep our minds focused. It only ever takes concentration on your two steps and a heart beat to be in sync with the universe’s rhythm. And so, while Mercury finds its way passed the degree where it began backsliding into Aries on May 20th there will be quite a few things we’ll be leaving behind – namely the mayhem that comes with transition. That does not mean there isn’t anything left to do, only that we’ll at least have caught site of a relatively clear path forward.

Wanting Venus will also be moving passed the degree it began moving backwards into Pisces. Time spent deliberating if this is, in fact, what we want, who we want is reaching the tail end on the 19th. Come what may, we’ve chosen to be right here, right now. And since it seems to have been a conscious decision, for the most part, we owe it to ourselves to stand firm and alert.

At this point, if you have misgivings about your choices, take heart that whatever the consequences they won’t be as tension filled as last month. Taskmaster Saturn is constructing a new set of rules to abide by that, while different (maybe uncomfortably so) and potentially restrictive, does provide a sense of stability that has been missing. It’s hard to argue that without the introduction of some kind order there would be no time or space to indulge in those satisfying, hard earned sighs of relief.

Mercury has given us time to think through our depths and Venus has brought us to the bottom of our hearts. Keep what good you found close you’ll need it on the ride up.

Next week the Sun and Moon greet in Gemini extending our list of things to do, people to see and places to go– a chance to get a real feel for how these ‘new arrangements’ will fly.
